The aim of this session is to give employers and HR managers practical tools to identify and remove age bias throughout the recruitment process. From writing job adverts to making final hiring decisions, participants will learn how to build recruitment practices that focus on capability, widen access to experienced talent and support fair, evidence-based recruitment.


Learning Outcomes

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Write job advertisements that attract a wider range of suitable candidates by removing unnecessary barriers and age-coded language.
  • Apply skills-based screening methods when reviewing applications and CVs.
  • Conduct structured interviews that focus on evidence rather than assumptions.
  • Recognise where technology and automated recruitment systems may unintentionally reinforce age bias.
  • Apply practical recruitment techniques that support fair, inclusive and evidence-based hiring decisions.
